Welcome to the
Friends of Headley Lane Park!

Our next AGM is on Friday 20th November 9am at Headley Park Community Centre.

All welcome.

Work has begun!

Our new play area is well under way and if the weather permits it will be all finished in time for the summer holidays!

Watch this space for the unveiling coming soon!

New football posts!

Thanks to the Dundry View Neighbourhood Partnership Wellbeing Fund grant we now have 5 a side football goals in our park.

They are currently situated outside of the play area and not fenced off from dogs but we may enclose them in the future if funds allow.

Work will soon commence! March 2015

It has been a very busy 6 months since we applied and then won the Big Lottery money to enable us to install our new play area.
We have now chosen a winning design and it should be installed at the end of May or beginning of June.
It has been a fantastic result after all the hard work over the last 18 months but we have decided to keep fundraising to further improve our park.  £50,000 is a wonderful amount of money but it only goes so far and we have further visions for the area.  We would like to create a path through the dog walking area to allow residents to use the park for leisure and enjoy the wildflowers which will be planted, along with the daffodils which are beginning to bloom.  We also have dreams of planting more trees and creating nature habitats to encourage more wildlife.
Watch this space for further developments!

Ping! Table Tennis September 2014
We were very grateful to receive a grant from Quartet community foundation on behald of Sports Relief community cash fund which paid for a table tennis table, some bats and balls plus coaching.
Although this was well used in the park, sadly it has been vandalised after 6 weeks and removed for safety reasons.  We are hoping to get another table in place once the playground has been developed.
Vandalism in the park May 2014
Sadly our plastic slide has been burnt to the ground by vandals and we are now waiting for it's replacement.
A metal slide has been on order since last year and the slide has been out of action for the past few months so we are hoping that it will be repaired in time for the summer.
Damage to our playground is a big worry and we are working with the police on this issue.  We hope that the new play equipment when it is funded will look looked after and respected.
We discussed this recently on the Radio Bristol breakfast show so hope we have highlighted a common problem in parks since the demise of park wardens.

Exciting updates........... March 2014

News February 2014
Our new fence is now in place!  After waiting a long time for the shortfall to be raised for the new perimeter fence, the work has now been done to install a strong and safe fence to match the one around the playground.

We have a new slide on it's way and this time it will be a strong (and hopefully vandal-proof) stainless steel slide.
We have been busy sourcing different grants available and discussing what we would like to see in the playground.  We are looking at the park as a whole and will re-develop the space for a better use.
